Pieblog readers ought to be aware by now that I am raising cash for Macmillan Cancer Support, with some significant support from fellow members of Crook and Weardale Ramblers. Part of this effort is a Waxathon, during which victims - er.. apols, did I say victims (?) will be mercilessly devoided of body hair on various parts of their bodies

People who donate a few quid in this way will have their personal karma enhanced by at least 15 points and will also gain my personal gratitude.

So - lets bring the justgiving page and the waxathon together. Just cos...

So far the justgiving page has received £460 in donations. This is pretty good, I think. But we seem to have hit some kind of hiatus or pause in the rate of dosh coming in.

And, we've said, in the publicity for the waxathon, that we will wax limbs, back or chest but NOT naughty parts, There will be no bikini or intimate waxing, no matter how much fun this might be for the waxers,

But hold on - several (actually just a few)of the women members have, possibly in moments of slight intoxication, have been scaring the males (almost said male members snigger) with threats of restraint and sack and crack, whatever that is. I'm not sure if they're serious. And there is a demand for before and after pictures.

Now I would say that if sufficient donations were to be made via this blog - and we're talking multiple double figures here that I would personally endure an utter and complete waxing, carried out by anyone drunk enough to do it. Proof of the source of a donation could be made via a comment in the little box provided when donating. Something as simple as the word "northernpies" would do it. Individual donations could be quite small - it's the total amount that is important.

So there we are - that's my challenge.

I'm sort of hoping that the total will be just a few quid short....

Anyway, just by way of a change, tomorrow I'm off to Druridge Bay to volunteer support in Sunday's North East Skinny Dip (loads of work for charidee. don;t like to talk about it. Previous blog posts about this have attracted attention from sad acts demanding to know the names of those involved. (There's some right funny buggers about)

Waxathon - Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraiser(s)

 

I'm not sure if blog readers are aware of this but I am secretary of Crook and Weardale Ramblers and for those pieblog readers who don't know what the Ramblers do, it's a UK charity which concerns itself with protecting and developing access to the countryside for everybody. This tends to manifest itself in the eyes of the public, and quite a lot of our members,  mainly in providing programmes of guided walks and social events. Our group has around 125 members and we have programmes of around 80 walks each year, some short , some medium and some stupidly long. 

Recently, a few of our members have had the ill-luck to be affected by cancer - not all the same kinds of cancers, but quite scary for those involved, and their loved ones, I should expect.

So, we're raising funds to support Macmillan Cancer Care (aka Macmillan nursing) . Macmillan Cancer Care provides free support to anyone with a cancer diagnosis, at any stage of treatment, whether it is palliative or active on-going treatment. So, it's a very important organisation and is partly supported by charity monies.

Which brings me to the waxathon. This is a daft event. to be held in Crook on the evening of 30 October 2026. Ten quid will get you a ticket and in which victims  volunteers will have various limbs, or back and or chest brutally depilated using wax strips without let or mercy and whilst laughing in an evil manner. And they will pay for the service. There will also be music, food and a fairly posh tombola involving supplies of plonk.

Most pieblog readers will live too far away to attend this event, so there's an opportunity at the foot of this blog post to donate as generously as possible. There is good karma to be had as well....  just sayin'
