Some maps

There has been some little dissention (but not much strife) over the issue of me putting maps of the walks on the pieblog. I will try to do better, but many of the walks are repeats since , if they’re County Council walks, I do them three times in all if they’re new, or twice if they’ve been done before.

Speaking of which, the Durham County Council programme of walks and other countryside affairs is now published and can be found here: http://content.durham.gov.uk/PDFRepository/Country_Durham_April-September_2012_FINAL4pound.pdf

Here’s the map of the nineteen mile walk from Wolsingham around Waskerley and Collier Law:

And here’s the map of the walk around Drumaldrace and Dodd Fell from Hawes.

And here’s a picture of some special cake.

  4. You can never have too many lovely OS maps as far as I'm concerned. Or too many rood wurds iced on cakes. (Though it did make me snort me tea - could you not include some kind of 'funny picture coming-up' warning?) I presume that the cake was for Bruno - the diabetes nurse would be frowning if she thought you were straying?

  6. Jules/Alan The cake is actually flapjack with a chocolate coating. This one was to celebrate a victory by that famous footy team, Arsenal. But I couldn't get the whole word on.
Dawn - Many possibilities, specially on the second walk...
Mark - See the above explanation, there's also been cakes celebrating fanny craddock and the birthplace of Dixon, (ref the mason/Dixon Line) he was, of course, born in Cockfield
Its the cardiac nurse by the way, not quite diabetic yet, but I'm working on it.
I hope the map's good enough, Paul. The route is pretty straightforward, though - point and fire stuff, really.

  7. Now I do make a rather nice cherry flapjack myself - but covered in chocolate would be even better. Must remember that next time.
